If you haven’t yet taken a look at The Vampire Diaries, which some might wrongly refer to as the television version of Twilight, now is the time to “Get VD,” as the show’s charming catchphrase suggests. Though I do agree that the popularity of Twilight probably had something to do with this show getting on the air, it gets better and more exciting every time I watch it and it started-out pretty decent. Plus, The Vampire Diaries was a popular ’90s book series by L.J. Smith before Twilight came to fruition, so it certainly has a rightful place in vampire lore. That said, I will admit that I’ve heard it deviates from the book in true True Blood fashion, but at the same time, it’s so entertaining (just like the True Blood show), that I really don’t personally care.
So check out vampire brothers Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) as they fight for the affection of the gorgeous Elena (Nina Dobrev), because where would a vampire story be without a good old fashion love triangle? Or several? As you can imagine, the show’s gotten immensely more complicated since the first season, but it's a fun ride.
